Growth Policy

Since 2016, City Council has not adopted any new residential developments over 3 acres. 新未来APP property values depend upon the success of our school system, and managing growth helps our schools maintain high standards. In 2018, Council passed an official growth policy that supports the reduction of high-density residential developments.

       新未来APP Schools Growth Impact Committee

The 新未来APP Schools Growth Impact Committee was formed in 2017 to research and develop a plan to keep our 新未来APP City Schools as the best K-12 educational value in the State of Alabama. Through their research, City Council and the School Board were able to determine a 12 mil increase in property tax was necessary to support growth within the schools. The property tax amendment passed in 2019, and our schools were able to start construction on a new elementary and middle school. The committee's full reports are available at the link.

新未来APP's Transportation Master Plan strategically plans for city infrastructure needs through research and projections for the next 20 years. This study helps define corridors and roads that will need attention for traffic flow.

Adopted in 2016, the West Side Master Plan will be used to evaluate land use decisions, guide public capital improvements and develop implementation measures to facilitate development of the Plan's area.
